On October 26, 2017, Urban Squash Cleveland and Urban Community School celebrated groundbreaking of the new facility on the school's campus. Located at W 47th and Lorain Ave, the new building will feature 4 squash courts, a classroom for 60 students, an office, and boys' and girls' locker rooms.
The Youth Development Center will allow the organization to more than double the amount of children served in Cleveland, and to serve them better!
USC is deeply grateful to all supporters and partners that are making this transformative project possible!
Urban Squash Cleveland took a team of 10 young squash players at the end of January to the Urban Team Nationals, held in Philadelphia at the Universities of Drexell and U Penn.
The Boys U-17 team had a great run and finished 4th in their division, after some really close battles, while the Girls U-17 team ended up reaching an impressive 3rd place in their event! Both teams played with tremendous courage and intensity, and more importantly, they displayed a high level of camaradery and sportsmanship throughout their matches.
During this fun-filled weekend, the team was able to visit some classics of the city, such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exciting event had over 500 players from NUSEA programs accross the country!
On behalf of the Urban Squash Cleveland kids, we would like to thank you so much for supporting them through the 2016 Racquets Rally. On November 6, the fun filled Rally took place at the Cleveland Racquet Club, raising more than $110,000 for the program! This event was our biggest and most successful to date at USC.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generous support!
Where do 20 kids go to build cars, pet stingrays, explore castles, and talk to bankers? Urban Squash Cleveland's 2016 Summer Camp! We had four action-packed weeks where the name of the game was experiential learning, and with over 21 field trips we lived up to that promise. Daily squash lessons by Squash Director Ron Koenig anddaily academic lessons provided the foundation for a highly productive summer program.
For 15 days, Michael worked on his squash, his fitness, Spanish language skills, and was able to visit some of the beautiful locations in the region of Galicia. He made friends from all over the World and brought back some great memories to Cleveland.
This opportunity reflects the kind of exposure that the organization works to provide its team members!
